Bus Information
We at South Lake Charter are proud to provide bussing to our student population. Any students who live within two to four miles driving distance to the school are automatically able to receive bus transportation. We currently provide transportation to several students that reside outside the four mile radius. If you have any questions about our transportation or wish to enroll in our bussing program please email Donna Salas at or call 352-243-2960 ext.118.
Bus routes have been established and are running daily. Please contact the Front Office for details, at 352-243-2960.
Student Choice Wednesdays
Wednesdays will be the Skippers' day to wear casual clothes if they choose. Our motto is to "dress for success" - think "business / casual" when dressing your child for these days. Please see the Student Uniform Policy description which outlines the guidelines we expect students to follow in choosing their clothes for Wednesdays.
Hot Lunch Program
SLA Management is our food service provider; their corporate offices are in Winter Park, Florida. They will prepare on-site meals and serve fresh, nutritious food to our students and faculty. They will be a registered vendor with the Florida Department of Education and currently serve 20,000 meals per day at 57 schools in our multi-county area. SLA will provide monthly menus to parents.
Our hot lunch program costs $2.75 per lunch or $13.75 for a ticket book of 5 lunches. Each book can be purchased from 8:00a until the start of the homeroom period or at lunch period daily in the lunchroom only. If the student is only buying a drink the milk, small water and juice is $0.75 and the large water is $1.00.
No parent is allowed to purchase tickets directly without first going to our office to check-in.
All checks should be made out to 'SLA Management'. Please have your child write their name on their tickets once purchased.
There is no reduced or free lunch program, but students will be fed if they forget to bring money or a lunch ticket. The student's name is taken and the next time they buy lunch, they need to bring the money or a lunch ticket to cover the previous lunch. If the student does not repay the previous debt and forgets their lunch money or ticket again, they will receive a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It is SLA policy to only allow the student to forget their lunch money or ticket 3-times per school year; so it is greatly appreciated if parents can make sure their student has their lunch money or ticket each day.

Parent Volunteers
South Lake Charter Elementary School is excited to welcome parents to our volunteer program. We are so fortunate to have so many parents wanting to participate. The requests from parents wanting to help is overwhelming. If you have any interest in joining our volunteer team please download the following volunteer form and submit it to the school office at your convenience. All parents wanting to volunteer must be registered with the school according to Lake County Regulations. We look forward to having many parents respond. Remember that our principal has asked that all parents volunteer their time to the school for at least ten hours a year. Lets together make a difference for our school and our children.
Once parents have registered with us they may email to register themselves for our emailing list. Sue King is our parent volunteer coordinator. This list would only be for upcoming events and to ask parents for assistance. Please feel free to leave your number and even your schedule in your email.
