Student Pickup Procedures

Important!!—Car Rider Pick-up information

The Student Advisory Committee (SAC), has been diligently working on a procedure to
improve the Car Rider line for picking up students in the afternoon. Although the procedure
has improved over the course of the Fall semester, SAC is still concerned about the safety of
the children and workers during pick-up. After observing the activity of the pick-up line,
there are many concerns that still need to be addressed. A few of the concerns are:

• Classes being dismissed at different times.
  
• Parents parking and walking to pick up their kids from class causing congestion in
  the pick up area and distracting the teachers from making sure the kids get into the
  correct car.
  
• Cars parked in the parking lot across from the kindergarten classrooms (designated
  as teacher parking ONLY). Parents are crossing the car rider line with children and
  trying to back out of spaces into the car rider line.
  

1. There will now be two dismissal bells. The first bell will ring at 2:45 pm (1:45 PM
   on Wednesdays) to dismiss bus riders (including Martial Arts and day care bus
   riders), kindergarteners, and their siblings. The second bell will ring at 3:00 pm (2:00
   PM on Wednesdays) to dismiss the remaining grades for the pick-up line, extended day
   and walkers. Please don’t arrive before your child’s dismissal time or you will be asked
   to circle around to the end of the line.
   
2. We are asking that parents refrain from parking and picking their kids from their
   classroom and car rider area. Please pick up your child via the Car Rider Pick-up
   line ONLY. This will immensely reduce the congestion of people in the area, which
   is a big safety hazard.
   
3. Each car will be greeted by a staff personnel who will radio ahead for your child to
   meet you at one of four designated cones. Please have the car tag visible with your
   child’s name and teacher.
   
   
   
   
   
4. If you need to speak with the teacher, please make an appointment for after 3:15 PM.
   Please park in the main parking lot in front of the school (not in the parking lot across
   from the kindergarten rooms) and go through the office doors.
   

We thank you in advance for helping make this procedure work. We understand that it may
be confusing at first but we believe it is the safest alternative. Please refer to The Navigator,
